Tanong lang po kung papano mag update ng patches for RHEL AS3.. lumang luma na po kase ang OS and mga apps na naka install. External DNS server lang po ang gamit ng box pero halos lahat ata ng kasama sa redhat as3 installer ay naka install so mahirap po mag manual patch. May up comming audit kase kami kaya kailangan ma patch ko ang server. umalis na po kasi ang administrator na nag install nito at hindi po ako sure kung nakapag subscribe ang company namin sa Redhat Network para magamit ang up2date(which is not working or baka nde lang ako marunong). ano pa po ang aking option para ma update ang mga patch ng redhat as3? nabasa ko po sa google ang about sa YUM na ginagamit ng fedora and I'm not sure kung ok lang gamitin ito sa RHEL. Debian user po ako noon at umaasa lang ako sa apt-get noon para mag update. ngayon po Windows Admin na ako at medyo nalimutan ko na ang Linux...
additional questions po:
1. pano malaman sa RHEL AS3 kung full install ang ginawa ng admin before?

Back up everything you need, the important is the configuration file of all your services.
And do a fresh install, then restore your data and config. This is the safest way because there are massive differences between AS3 and AS4.
Other Distro also of RHEL/Fedora/CENTOS. That's the only safest and most fastest way.

so kung ganon po ba eh pag nag update man ako via up2date gagawin nyang AS4 ang AS3?

Hindi po ganun yun pag gumamit ka ng update vi up2date di ma cconvert yung AS4 to AS3... malalaman mo nman kung gagana ang up2date mo pag meron pa syang kinukuhang update sa RHEL repository pero pag wala ibig sabihin tapos na yung contract.
Musch better to upgrade kna sa bagong version or kung ayaw mo naman tama si aeonmike gamit ka ng ibang distro like:
CentOS---> Cloned by RHEL---> CentOS is the same in redhat maliban lang sa logo but the updates is also the same so hindi ka mag kakaproblem...

OT - so yung centOS po kukuha ng updates sa redhat din? kala ko kasi free ang centOS.
