Hi All,

This is related to the thread I made which is about linux patches, and as advised by aeonmike, start from scratch. so yun na rin ang gagawin ko I will start from scratch and install Redhat EL 5.

Tanong ko lang po kung anong requirements para mag setup ng DNS server sa linux na very minimal ang software na ma install??? yung almost linux lang and BIND para nde na ako mahirapan sa pag update ng patches. sympre kelangan ko rin ng mga tar bzip2 at mga ibang kelangan para sa maayos na OS. install ko na lang later ang ibang software tulad ng KDE or gnome pag tapos na lahat.

Actually kung gusto mo ng light installation lang for DNS dont use some additional addons or do not install GUI like kde and gnome. console sa lang sya. disable mo yung ibang mga services like printer

During the RHEL Installation, customized your Installation Packages, and install only;

DNS Server
Base System
Compilers (gcc etc..)

Then setup YUM for updating, if you have no RHEL subscription install number, you can setup RPMFORGE.

So you can update and install packages from RPMFORGE repo.

aeonmike#>rpm -Uhv http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/x86_64/rpmforge/RPMS//rpmforge-release-0.3.6-1.el5.rf.x86_64.rpm
